Waiting for the paint to dry
Oil paint takes so long to dry and are quite a different challenge after being used to acrylics. This is a new landscape I am working on.

Tulips 3 and the painting progresses
A little more progress as I start work on over painting the tulips and leaves. I am really enjoying doing some painting again, I was thinking back to when I did the original underpainting and it must be about 8 years ago, pleased to say it is progressing more quickly now.

Two days on and some progress made in the overpainting in oils.
The work is more grounded and the vase completed.

Tulips Day 1 underpainting
Well as I have discovered how to create a blog finally lol, I thought I should post something here.
While not the finished piece, this is an underpainting in acrylic of a vase of tulips the plan is to paint over this in oils. I am quite comfortable, if not skilled, with using acrylic paints but oils are a new venture for me so we shall see whether I improve or totally wreck the piece. I do like the idea of recording my progress as I can see at what point I like the image and whether or not I am tempted to go too far and overpaint.
I am painting on a 16 x 20 inch stretched cotton canvas.
